Ultra Jessner’s

One of the gentlest and most popular chemical peels is the Jessner’s peel. Formulated with a unique blend of fruit acids, it is effective for a variety of conditions and safe for all skin types. Because it has a minimal risk of scarring, Jessner’s Peel has long been favored for the treatment of pigmentation problems. In addition to the standard formula, we also offer Ultra Jessner’s, which contains the same great blend of ingredients as the original, with the addition of a skin-lightening compound called hydroquinone.

How is it used

The Ultra Jessner’s Peel is a great treatment for hyperpigmentation, dark spots, age spots, freckles, or uneven skin tone. It offers the same benefits as a standard Jessner’s peel, refreshing skin and improving the texture. The addition of hydroquinone enhances the benefits for lightening or evening skin tone.

How does it work

This complex formula contains multiple active ingredients, providing a wide array of benefits. It includes three ingredients (Lactic acid, Salicylic acid, and Resorcinol) that stimulate the skin to shed old, dead, and damaged skin cells. The fourth active ingredient hydroquinone is a skin-brightening agent, which actually reduces the overproduction of melanin (pigment) that causes melasma and other hyperpigmentation.

The procedure is similar to that of other chemical peels. First, the treatment area is cleansed to remove cosmetics, skin oils, and other substances. In deeper chemical peels, and anesthetic is usually applied before the procedure begins, but that is rarely needed for a mild peel. Once the area is prepared, the peeling solution is carefully applied, and allowed to soak for a specified length of time. Within three days, the uppermost layer of skin will begin sloughing off the treatment area, and within a week, you should see new, smoother, more even colored skin appear.

Recovery and results

You should be able to resume your normal activities after treatment, but there may be aesthetic aftereffects for about one week. Your skin will appear dry and flaky as the damaged layer peels off. If you go outdoors, be certain that you use sunscreen, as the newly developing skin will be especially sensitive to UV radiation.
