Dental Exams for Children
We provide fun, productive dental care for kids in our Marietta office
Technically, dentistry may be very similar for people of all ages. Dr. Valerie Fuller differs in her delivery of dental care in the approach she takes. Every patient is an individual, and we recognize that younger patients may feel apprehensive about the sounds, sights, and smells of the dental office. In addition to designing our office to have a relaxed feel, our entire team goes above and beyond to welcome children aged five and older into our office.
Oral care and professional dental examinations and cleanings are as important for baby teeth as they are for the teeth we will have for our lifetime. While these primary teeth may last a relatively short time, they are essentially intended to hold the place of permanent teeth, which are developing beneath the gums. Continual problems with primary teeth can impede the healthy development of these teeth.
Early dental care performed on a regular basis, twice a year, is not only essential for a child's oral health but also his or her view of dentistry as a whole. Understanding the fears children may have, we work through them together to achieve more pleasant visits. The goal of early exams and cleanings is to prevent dental problems through education. The better we can educate and support our patients (and their parents) in hygiene, the more empowered they are to maintain their healthiest smiles. When needed, Dr. Fuller also performs specific preventive treatments such as sealants and fluoride, as well as restorative care with fillings.
The Marietta dental office of Dr. Valerie Fuller is a family practice, which means that our pediatric patients do not have to transition out of our practice once they reach adulthood. We are happy to serve the dental needs of multiple generations, and have the expertise to see our patients through the various challenges to oral health through the different stages of life.
Pediatric dental care involves continual assessment of teeth as well as evaluation of oral development. Through conscientious exams, we can monitor the development of teeth as well as the jaw as a whole, keeping an eye on occlusion and the potential need for braces in the future.
