I would like to welcome you to experience Homewood’s First Dermatology Practice. Whether for medical, surgical or cosmetic dermatology, the center combines state-of-the-art technology, innovative procedures, and a warm and friendly staff.

Office Manager
Christina Roberts Brown is the Office Manager and head of marketing and promotions for the Skin Wellness Center of AL in Birmingham, AL. A native of Birmingham, AL, Christina attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham graduating with honors with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. Some of Christina’s professional management and marketing experience includes: technical and pharmaceutical sales with IBM, Sanofi~Synthelabo, and United Health Care. Christina also received her Financial Advisor Licenses while working with Wells Fargo Bank. Christina currently lives in Birmingham, AL with her eight-year old daughter Kimberly. While Christina is not in the office, she enjoys traveling, dancing, and spending time with her family and friends. Clinical Staff
Cheryl - Clinical Coordinator Cheryl is a native of Longbeach, CA. She graduated from Jefferson State Community College and Birmingham College of Allied Health (Magna Cum Laude). Cheryl is a certified Histotech and Phlebotomist.
She brings over twenty-five years of medical experience to the Skin Wellness Center of Alabama and twelve of those years specializing in dermatology. In addition to her dermatology experience, Cheryl worked as an Assistant Buyer and Cosmetic Manager for Parisians. Cheryl has one son, Brett, who resides in Nashville, TN. In her spare time she volunteers with the Adult Literacy Program, Nursing Home Association, and Breast Cancer Awareness organizations. Additionally, Cheryl enjoys traveling and listening to jazz.
Stephanie – Medical Assistant Stephanie is originally from Gardendale, AL and a 2011 graduate of Virginia College Medical Assistant Program with an Associates Degree. While in school, she was the two year-old teach for a local daycare. Stephanie has a passion for children; however, she has always wanted to be in the Medical field and loves helping and caring for people. Stephanie is so glad to be a part of Skin Wellness Center of Alabama and excited to be on the team. While away from work, she loves spending time with her friends. She also believes family is extremely important. Stephanie lost her mother when she was senior in high school; therefore, treasures the family she has left.
Miriam – Medical Assistant Miriam was born and raised in San Diego, CA (Go Chargers!), but her parents are originally from San Pedro Sula, Henduras Central America. Miriam and her parents moved to Alabama in 2002 to open up a Hispanic Christian Church called Mana Del Cielo. Miriam graduated from high school in 2007 with honors. While in high school, she completed two years of cosmetology; therefore, makeup is her art. Miriam is a recent graduate of Virginia College and a proud Bilingual Medical Assistant. She got married on June 11, 2011 to the love of her life, Marcos. Miriam enjoys helping people and very dedicated to what she does. She loves God with all her heart and thanks her parents for raising her as well as they did.
Christy Bradley I am originally from Hartselle, AL. After I graduated from Hartselle High School in 1993, I enrolled in college with the intent of becoming a computer major. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer while in my first year of college. I was able to care for her and she inspired me to change my major to nursing. I enrolled into the LPN program and graduated in 1996 from Calhoun Community College. I began my nursing career and I loved it. I worked full time and continued my prerequisites until I was accepted into the RN program. I went to RN school on an academic scholarship, was a member of Phi Theta Kappa and graduated in 2003, magna cum laude. I love working with people and being of service. My motto is to treat my patients the way I would want my loved ones treated. Dermatology is close to my heart because I was diagnosed with psoriasis when I was 23 yrs old. I was a patient of Dr. Hartman's for 3 years before becoming a part of his staff. When I am not at work, I am spending time with my 6 yr old daughter, Elizabeth. She is the light of my life and I am truly blessed. We love being outside and just spending time together. My mom is also a huge part of my life and I am thankful for her every day and that she encouraged me to pursue my nursing career.
Brandie Lake-Taylor - Phlebotomist/MA I was born in Germany and was raised on military bases in New Jersey and Hawaii. My father retired from the Army and moved back to his hometown, Birmingham, AL, in 1996. After moving back to Birmingham, I graduated from Huffman High School in 2003. I then later attended Virginia College and earned my degree in Pharmacy Technology. I also graduated from Jeremiah's Hope Academy as a certified phlebotomist. I am married with two sons and enjoy spending time with my family and friends. Being in the medical field has always been my heart's desire. I enjoy working with the Skin Wellness Center of Alabama with like minded people.
Front Office Staff
Mayra Knight – Front Office Coordinator I was born and raised in Jalisco, Mexico where I acquired a Degree in Nutrition. My passion for traveling and learning brought me to Birmingham, AL where I met my adventurous husband. I also continued my education as a Medical Assistant and Medical Interpreter. As a result, I pursue any body related wellness activities, such as: healthy eating, yoga and reflexology. Furthermore, I consider it eminent to be in contact with nature, to practice gardening, and to have shooting skills! I am a Christian and love my family.
Lisa Shoemaker – I am a native of Birmingham, Alabama and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education. I have experience working in the spa industry as well as plastic surgery. I love this industry because I am all about good health and taking care of yourself in the best possible way you can….healthy diet, exercise and adequate rest. I also have an AFAA certification for Personal Strength Training, so exercise is a big part of my life. More importantly, my family is priority! I have three children that complete the circle of life for me.
Kayla Fountain - is from the Birmingham area and she is a recent graduate from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and a minor in Education. While attending UAB she was also a member of the UAB Blazerettes Dance Team where she was captain for two years. In her spare time away from work, Kayla likes to choreograph dances for local high school dance teams and spend time with her family and friends. Family is very important to her life as well as her fiancé’ Daniel. Kayla is very excited to be a part of Skin Wellness Center of Alabama. 
Jessica Harris - I was born on July 26, 1991 in Sylacauga, AL. I grew up in Sylacauga and graduated from Sylacauga High School in May of 2009. After graduating from high school, I then attended college at Central Alabama Community College, where I graduated in 2011 with an Associates in Cosmetology and Minor in Business. I married Tony on 7th September 2013. I am very excited to be a part of the SWCA Team!
