Belotero

The Skin Wellness Center offers a variety of treatment options from which you can choose, because not every product may be right for every situation. When you visit Dr. Corey Hartman, your specific needs and wants will be carefully listened to, so that we may devise a plan for treatment that works for you, and accomplishes your goals.
We are happy to include Belotero in our comprehensive suite of medical cosmetic services. This FDA-cleared, non-animal dermal filler is based on hyaluronic acid, which is produced in decreased quantities as we grow older. Called “the smoother solution”, Belotero is suitable for use in a number of situations, some of which may not be successfully treated with other products.
Some of the areas in which Belotero may be used include:
  • Smile and laugh lines
  • Chin folds
  • Frown lines
  • Marionette lines, which form around the mouth and nose
  • Earlobes
  • Tear troughs
  • Lips, including the area between the upper lip and nose
Many of these areas may have, in the past, been treated with dermal fillers such a Restylane or Juvéderm, or not been treated at all without cosmetic surgery. Although these three dermal fillers are all based on Hyaluronic acid, the way in which the molecules are cross-linked differs from one to another. Hence, each type of filler may have a unique affect.
Compared to other fillers in the Hyaluronic acid family, Belotero is characterized by a thin, lightweight consistency. The way in which this filler is created lends the final product its elasticity. With this consistency, the distribution of filler into the skin is much more even and seamless, producing beautifully natural results.
Belotero’s natural characteristics also make this filler ideal for superficial injections, which equates to less product being used to produce gorgeous, supple skin. This filler is excellent for fine lines due to its lightweight texture, and makes the perfect complement in situations where Botox has been used to relax facial muscles, but has left etchings of fine lines behind. Belotero is also ideal for filling out hollows under the eyes.
The side effects of Belotero treatment are similar to other injections, including temporary redness, itching, swelling, or tenderness. Though there is a very slight risk of lumps, as with other fillers, this risk is next to zero. Once the skin has been treated in our comfortable Birmingham office, patients are able to return to their day with no obvious signs of treatment, and enjoy beautiful skin for up to twelve months.
