Porcelain veneers are extremely thin (normally under 0.5 mm) shells of porcelain that are customized to perfectly fit the shape of your teeth. The veneers are bonded to the front of your teeth and cover the surface, thereby hiding unpleasant flaws.

If you have a tooth that is chipped or broken, we can place a porcelain veneer on the surface to hide the blemish. Similarly, if the enamel of your teeth has worn down and they’ve become stained, veneers can be applied to restore your bright, natural-looking smile. Other common imperfections that we can fix with porcelain veneers are uneven, oddly-shaped, or abnormally spaced teeth.

What You Can Expect From The Procedure

In most cases, we can place the veneers on your teeth within two visits to our office. During your first visit, we’ll discuss how you’d like your teeth to appear and then we’ll examine them to ensure that you’re a good candidate for the procedure.

After we’ve taken x-rays, we may need to remove a small bit of enamel from your teeth in order to make room for the porcelain veneers. We’ll also take impressions of your teeth to create a mold with which to fabricate your veneers.

During your next visit, we’ll use a special dental bonding glue to attach the veneers to your teeth. But, before we apply the veneers permanently, we’ll make certain that their color and shape are perfectly formulated for your teeth. Once we’ve completed the bonding process, my team and I will carefully remove any residual glue and examine your bite.
