Meet your Encinitas CA Rheumatologist – About Dr. Lloyd

Peter Lloyd MD is a Board-certified rheumatologist, and founder of Seaside Rheumatology in Encinitas CA. He is well known in the community for his exceptional skill, compassionate patient care, and integrative approach to medicine.

Education and professional background

Dr. Lloyd attended University of Colorado in Boulder, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree and completed an extensive Alzheimer’s disease research project. He also completed a several-month Study Abroad program at James Cook University in Cairns, Australia.

He then attended Vermont College of Medicine in Burlington, earning his Doctor of Medicine degree. Next, he completed an internal medicine residency, including a clinical and research rotation in the Rheumatology department, with University of Chicago NorthShore, in Chicago, Illinois.

After completing residency, Dr. Lloyd went on to Los Angeles, CA, where he completed his rheumatology fellowship program at the prestigious David Geffen School of Medicine, UCLA. He also underwent additional training at the Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Course and Hands-on Workshop at UCLA to fine tune his ultrasound techniques.

In July 2017 Dr. Lloyd opened Seaside Rheumatology, in Encinitas, California. He continues to expand his education and advanced training, staying abreast of the latest developments in rheumatological medicine.

Dr. Lloyd maintains active membership in the American College of Physicians, American Medical Association, and American College of Rheumatology.

Known as a leader in the field of rheumatology, Dr. Lloyd is frequently asked to share his knowledge with other physicians. He has conducted dozens of presentations and other teaching activities. He has authored textbook chapters and published several research studies in professional journals.

When not at the office, Dr. Lloyd enjoys spending quality time with friends and family, giving back to the community through volunteer work, and traveling. He also participates in a variety of hobbies and athletic activities, including ice hockey, snorkeling, sailing, cars, hands on projects, hiking, fly-fishing, wakeboarding, paddle boarding, snowboarding, scuba diving, and underwater photography.
