
Dr. Rishi Patel graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania with bachelor’s degrees in both Economics and Biological Basis of Behavior. He earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University in 2004, where he was selected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and was awarded the Alfred S. Maschke Prize for excellence in the art and practice of medicine. He completed his dermatology residency at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in 2008, where he served as Chief Resident and was awarded the Murdough Psoriasis Center Resident Research Award. In 2009, he completed a fellowship in dermatopathology at New York University, and subsequently joined the faculty there. As an Assistant Professor in Dermatology and Pathology at NYU, Dr. Patel was awarded the Full Time Faculty of the Year Award in 2010 and was voted to New York Times Magazine’s Super Doctors® Rising Stars. He is actively involved in resident education, and he has over 50 peer reviewed publications.
Dr. Patel is a board certified dermatologist and dermatopathologist, and is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society of Dermatopathology. He specializes in the histopathologic interpretation of skin biopsy specimens, and his areas of special interest include melanocytic nevi, melanoma, non-melanoma skin cancers, and inflammatory dermatoses.
