Q: I am training for a marathon. Is this the worst time to have Botox? I am afraid that it will go away more quickly as I am exercising so much these days.A: We don't have clinical evidence that this is a concern, but there is a good theoretical question that increased metabolism can increase the breakdown of products.
Q: I want my lower eyelids to look smoother. What are my options?
A: Chemical peels, laser resurfacing, skin excision and blepharoplasty, botox injections and fillers have all been used for redundant wrinkled skin of the lower eyelids. Botox can loosen the skin too much and a droop of the lower eyelid can cause a superficial dryness of more, of the corner. See an expert to discuss this off-label use.
Q: I had Sculptra injected last week. Can I have botox treatment now?
A: Absolutely, the botox will not cause a problem with the previously injected Sculptra, nor would the Sculptra interact negatively with the Botox.
Q: I had Botox by a new doctor yesterday for my eleven. I can still make the lines today, why?
A: Botox can take two to three days to start to work and peaks at up to two weeks or more for most patients.
Q: If I had Botox but have an issue with an area looking weird and the doctor needs to fix it, should I be asked to pay again?
A: Many times, more units are needed than originally given. If the total units were higher the first treatment, then the charge would have been more in our practice as we charge per unit. It is smart to err on the side of caution and give too few than too many units of botox as it is easy to add but impossible to take away.
Q: If I have Botox treatment for my creases in the forehead, should I also treat the glabellar lines between the eyebrows if they're not too bad.
A: Usually I insist on treating the glabella at the same time of treating the forehead because without doing so, there will be an unopposed action to relax and drop the forehead which can bring down the eyebrows and upper eyelids with it in a patient who is starting to demonstrate such skin aging.
