Botox™ - Related FAQ's
Q: I have always had heavy eyebrows and don't seem to havean arch. Can Botox help raise the arch of my eyebrow?A: Usually the lifting that is caused by Botox doesn't accentuate the middle lifting more than the tail and inner corner of the eyebrow. If small doses were used in the forehead muscle on either side of the middle of the eyebrow, it might make the muscle over the middle eyebrow position, more actively elevate the eyebrow arch. Unfortunately, the areas of the forehead that relax might drop the ends of the brow. Furthermore, any Botox injected too close to the eyebrow middle, may diffuse to the adjacent levator muscle and induce a lowering of the eyelid that is quite disturbing and lasts for many weeks. Please see a doctor who is very experienced at this.
Q: Why didn't my lines vanish after just having Botox. I never had it before and all my friends are so happy with their treatment but my deep creases are just as deep between the eyebrows two weeks after having Botox.
A: Some patients need more units of Botox to relax the muscles. If there is still activity of the muscle groups then your doctor can inject more Botox to improve the result. If however, there is a relaxation of those muscles, but the lines haven't improved yet, this is not too unusual as the deep lines have been created over many years of active “scrunching” and frowning. Most patients in this situation, who keep up with their Botox every three to four months so there is no awakening of the muscle activity see their lines diminish. If you need better improvement for an upcoming social function, your doctor can consider a fine hyaluronic acid filler to be injected conservatively and usually not the same day as Botox. The off label uses of Restylane, Juvederm and Belotero in this regard can work well. There are risks of these fillers used in this area so discuss it with your physician. Eventually, the lines improve and Botox can be used without fillers in the future to maintain the smooth contour.
