Botox™ - Related FAQ's
Q: Will having botox on my forehead decrease my excessive sweating problem that I have always had?A: Quite possibly, an advantageous side effect of your botox treatment for forehead wrinkles can be less perspiration. Treating the whole forehead with botox for this effect, however, increases one's chance of developing a forehead and upper eyelid drop, which is temporary, but can take a few months to resolve. You will have to put up with some areas that will still sweat.
Q: I had Botox yesterday and feel I want a microdermabrasion today. Is that safe?
A: Yes, the microdermabrasion today will not interfere with the Botox you had injected yesterday. V-beam, Fraxel laser, laser hair removal, Portrait plasma and other devices would not damage the Botox effect one day after your Botox injections.
Q: I have never had botox and my wedding is in one month. Should I get my forehead treated? I hate the horizontal lines that are low down that my hairstyle can't hide them.
A: No. It's not worth the risk as botox injected for lower horizontal forehead lines can drop the forehead and with that the eyebrows can lose their arch, and the upper eyelids lose their support and come down as well. One side could drop more than the other and it would look bad for you to be asymmetric. You would be unhappy looking at your wedding photographs for the rest of your life!
Q: My lower eyelids are puffy in the AM and get better during the day. Should I have Botox?
A: No. Botox could make this swelling worse by relaxing the eyelid muscle. The eyelid normally can help the fluids drain by its normal blinking and squinting action helping pump the fluids back to the heart.
Q: If I had botox in California two weeks ago and am in NYC now and feel it didn't work, can I have more Botox?
A: Yes. You would need an evaluation to determine how active those muscles are still. Sometimes it is not that the botox didn't work, in fact the muscles may be totally relaxed but the skin is still creased. Then either waiting for more time to see the skin relax or considering some fine filler depending on the location.
