Botox™ - Related FAQ's
Q: Botox can have side effects, I know. I am concerned about the treatment but I have deep lines between my eyebrows. What else can be done for these lines cosmetically?A: Fillers can be done but Botox is much more effective. There is a risk of fillers causing circulation problems in this area so the treatment with Botox is actually much safer!
Q: Why do I pay for 35 units of Botox when my friend of same age only pays for 20?
A: Everyone is different and the doctor should customize your Botox plan specifically for you and not the textbooks.
Q: If Botox lowered my eyebrows can I get them raised?
A: If the Botox was injected in the forehead, then glabellar and outer eyebrow Botox injections may raise up the forehead slightly.
Q: I have a spasm of a facial muscle and the doctor wants to do Botox is it safe?
A: Although Botox may be considered safe for treating twitches and spasms you should first work up the reason for the twitch on the face and determine if there is a major problem.
Q: If I have Botox now when I'm 34, can I continue it through my fifties and sixties?
A: Depending where the Botox is injected, some areas aren't amenable to treatment because of droopiness related to the sagging that occurs with age. An example is the forehead. When we're younger, the forehead muscle helps keep up the eyebrows and eyelids but as we age they start to droop. As the forehead muscle works harder to elevate them, the lines become deeper. If the forehead is treated in a wide area to reduce all the forehead lines then the forehead can't work to lift the eyebrows / eyelids and these can then sag. So what your body could tolerate at a young age will be different as you get older. Safety-wise, Botox has been used for two decades cosmetically so there is a high safety profile.
