Botox™ - Related FAQ's

Q: Should I still feel a tingling 3 days after Botox in my crows feet?

A: That is unusual. You should see your doctor, but it probably will go away on its own over a few weeks or more. There may be some nerve irritability from the injection. Your doctor may prescribe some medication or might suggest you just give it time and as long as it's getting better.

Q: I have a bad back and want to take Tylenol, but I had Dysport yesterday. Is that a problem?

A: Tylenol may be taken safely along with the administration of Dysport or Botox.

Q: Can Botox last for a year?

A: I have had many patients say their Botox lasted for many months, some even a year. If they were in for an evaluation when they thought the Botox was still working 8 months after injection, their evaluation might prove that all the Botox wore off already but the patient had retrained themselves not to grimace. Three to four months is the average duration. It can last a little longer in the neck, but I am not aware of it lasting longer than six months in the neck.

Q: I forgot my doctor's instructions and took a nap one hour after my Botox. Will the position of my lying down on my back cause a problem?

A: Probably not. It has been a recommendation to avoid diffusion or migration of the Botox effect to nearby areas that might cause cosmetic problems but this has not been proven.

Q: I had Dysport but was told not to take a nap right after, why?

A: There might be a possibility that some of the medicine would move to an area that is not desired to be relaxed, such as the upper eyelid which could cause a droop.
