Botox™ - Related FAQ's
Q: It's only been five months since I had Botox injections to my crows feet. Why am I seeing lines again? I was told it can last a year.A: Botox does not last a year. Neither does Dysport. They last three to four months, maybe slightly longer depending on individual circumstances and location of injections but not a year!
Q: I had a great result with Dysport in my glabella (between my eyebrows) but now my nose crinkles up with lines on the upper part. How can I fix this?
A: A couple of carefully-placed units of Dysport may help smoothen the bunny lines you describe. To avoid, however, a complication of Botox or Dysport, don't chase those lines too much. If there is Botox or Dysport injected too low on the side of the nose to chase those bunny or tiger lines, then the smile may be affected for a few to several months.
Q: I have had Botox for many years, between my eyebrows, and it lasts about 14 weeks. My friend, just told me that hers lasts close to six months. Is that possible and why? Should I see her doctor?
A: Every patient is different in terms of their anatomy, muscle strength/mass and number of units of botox needed as determined by an individual physician. If you do see your friend's physician, it's important to know how many units of botox you've had injected into each specific cosmetic area to compare your results. Most patients receive three to four months of benefit but there are exceptions in which several patients report five to six months and more, or benefit from Botox or Dysport.
Q: I read that someone who had Botox had difficulty focusing with their vision. Is this a permanent problem?
A: No. blurred or double vision is a very rare complication of Botox and is temporary. It may be caused by a relaxation of one of the extraocular muscles that control eye gaze. Systemic toxicity has been suggested as a reason for some cases. Fortunately this is temporary. Anyone noticing this should let their doctor know.
