Botox™ - Related FAQ's
Q: I want to reduce my frown lines but I never had Botox™. How often will I need to have it done? I know it is not a permanent result.A: Most patients start to exhibit muscle activity after three to four months. If you maintain regular Botox™ injections before the muscle wakes up, you may increase the longevity of the effectiveness in between treatments, requiring less sessions per year and reducing your annual cost of Botox™.
Q: I'm wondering if Botox™ can cause blindness?
A: There is no reason to expect such a risk, nor have I been made aware of any incidence of such.
Q: I am Korean and have a very round face. Can anything be done to make it more narrow.
A: You would need to be examined. Some patients can have facial liposuction, whereas others are candidates for Botox™ to relax a hypertrophic masseter muscle (that muscle is used to clench our jaw).
Q: Why did my upper eyelids become heavy after treating the forehead with Botox™?
A: With time, our muscles become saggy and the forehead skin falls down bringing with it the upper eyelid skin. We use the muscle then, even in a relaxed state, to contract and pull up the skin of the forehead to help keep our eyes open via helping to keep the eyelids up. Botox™ will smoothen the horizontal lines of the forehead but at a cost of relaxing those muscles which can then drop the eyebrows and eyelids because they can't fight gravity any more. Your next treatment may need to insert less Botox™ closer to the low forehead.
Q: I had Botox™ for the first time recently. I had it done at a Medispa and the forehead was injected. Now my eyelids are droopy and I find it hard to put on my eyeshadow. How long will this last?
A: You may find your symptoms easing up over two to three months. This does happen not uncommonly, to patients who are injected by expert physicians, not just in Medispas. The forehead has been holding up your eyebrows for some time, and with them, the loose skin of the upper eyelids. As we age, the skin sags more and everything drops, so when we relax the forehead muscle, the eyebrows and eyelids might fall. This tends not to happen in the thirities, but starts to occur in the forties.
