Botox™ - Related FAQ's

Q: Will Botox on my crows feet five months ago affect my surgeon's interest in scheduling my Rhinoplasty surgery?

A: No there should be no affect, any longer of the Botox on your facial musculature or wrinkles.

Q: Can Botox cause an allergic reaction?

A: It is extremely rare to hear of any bonafide allergic reaction to Botox. It is theoretical however, but I am not aware of any of my patients having such a reaction in the twenty years of performing Botox treatments. It is such a safe treatment that there are no skin tests needed prior to treatment. There is a questionable reaction, though, if you are allergic to albumin. Discuss this with your doctor.

Q: I had Botox on my glabella two weeks ago and can still move the area and my "11" persists. What can I do?

A: You may not have had a sufficient number of units of Botox injected for the muscle mass of Botox you have. Often the glabella needs 25 units to 35 units for a good results and satisfactory duration of effectiveness.

Q: If my friend had a better result than me from Botox, could my doctor be diluting the Botox too much?

A: The number of units of Botox is the most important aspect of treatment when comparing results from doctor to doctor or patient to patient. If the dilution was different when mixing the powder upon delivery to the practice, then the units would still be the same, but the volume injected would differ. The effect of Botox is dependent on the number of units.

Q: I like the result of my Botox but my crows feet smoothened right away on the right but my left side is still wrinkling. Will I need more Botox?

A: Possibly, but give it a week, even two, before you get it adjusted as there can be a delay before you see the result you want. Why one side reacted more quickly than the other is difficult to say, especially if the doctor is certain you had the same number of units of Botox on each side. Sometimes the muscle mass is larger on one side and the lines deeper. In such a case, more Botox may be needed in the more muscular side.
