CoolSculpting/Zeltiq™™ - Related FAQ's

Q: Can I tell what size applicator I will get before I come in for CoolSculpting?

A: No. You have to be “fitted” as different applicators may work better depending on the convexities and concavities of your body in the region of your treatment.

Q: Can a doctor's assistant apply the CoolSculpting applicator?

A: Absolutely! The doctor is responsible and in my practice, I, or another doctor examines the patient first to ensure they are a candidate for Zeltiq's CoolSculpting treatment to reduce a fat bulge. I also mark the sites that the applicator should be applied and indicate which of the several applicators will be used in the exact area. The assistant can then perform the fitting of the applicator on the area. The New York Aesthetic Consultants, LLP is a certified CoolSculpting practice. This indicates we have taken more effort than a non-certified practice to become trained and demonstrate excellence in our treatments which helps ensure the best possible result.

Q: My CoolSculpting treatment didn't hurt at all and I don't have a bruise on my love handles. Does this mean it won't work?

A: Absolutely not. Your treatment may be as successful as anyone else's even if they had pain and bruising. If you have another treatment on a different area, or a repeat treatment on the same area, it may bruise or be sore the next time so don't be concerned if that happens.

Q: My fat is located right in the middle of my abdomen. If I have CoolSculpting, will it hurt my belly button?

A: Most people tolerate the treatment very well, even if the belly button is centered right in the middle of the applicator. If it hurts, the assistant can stop the treatment immediately.

Q: I had absolutely no bruising after Zeltiq on the love handles. Did it not work?

A: Some bruise and others don't. It does not mean you won't get an excellent fat reduction if you don't bruise.

Q: Will doctors ever be able to use CoolSculpting on other body sites than just treating abdomens and love handles?

A: We already use the applicators we have to treat off-label areas as long as the applicator is found to fit appropriately. The Zeltiq company, though, is designing new smaller applicators to help us treat different areas which is exciting.

Q: I am very thin but I still have love handles. I even had liposuction three years ago. Can I have CoolSculpting?

A: Yes. CoolSculpting is an excellent adjunct to liposuction as the Zeltiq treatment is non-invasive.
