CoolSculpting/Zeltiqâ„¢™ - Related FAQ's
Q: I had liposuction a year ago on my lower abdomen. I like the result but would like just a little more and was considering to schedule a second surgery. My friend recommended I undergo non-surgical treatment. What could be done instead of surgery? Would Zeltiq help?A: Thermage, Velashape, Endermologie and Zeltiq CoolSculpting all may help. Zeltiq might be the most effective and long-lasting treatment for what you h ave. About 20% reduction of volume with one 1-hour treatment, minimal downtime, just a little bruising and slight tenderness that rarely lasts more than a day or so. Thermage is more painful and more expensive and may not produce the same results, but can be considered an adjunct along with Zeltiq to produce the best result in those who don't want surgery. You could also elect to have multiple Zeltiq procedures. I am very afraid of pain and for that reason I don't want to have surgery but I want to lose my hips. I don't want to be put under so liposuction is not a great choice for me. Can Zeltiq help? It depends on your physical exam. Is this localized or part of a general overweight shape? If localized, you may be an ideal Zeltiq CoolSculpting candidate, as many patients say that they either felt no pain, or that it just felt weird and slightly uncomfortable for the first 5 to 10 minutes of the treatment until the skin got so chilled that it felt numb. It might be slightly painful to the touch, or with maneuvers, the first several days to even a few weeks, but this is very rare. You should make an appointment for a consultation to determine your possibility of benefiting by this excellent treatment. I take high blood pressure medication and at times my pressure still goes very high. I hate my fat love handles and want them reduced but I have waited for a few years to undergo liposuction but have put it off because my internist advised me not to have surgery when the pressure was high. I just read about Zeltiq and wonder if there were any complication preventing me from having this done if my pressure is high? Zeltiq does not involve cutting or injecting local anesthetic with adrenaline so there shouldn't be a problem having the treatment. CoolSculpting by Zeltiq is a very safe treatment. There may be some bruising but there shouldn't be any problem medically because of your blood pressure.
