CoolSculpting/Zeltiq™™ - Related FAQ's
Q: I am just like my mother and can’t lose my outer thighs.I work out and don’t eat much carbs. Can Zeltiq help?A: In all probability, you could be a candidate, off-label for the outer thighs. You would need an evaluation with a physical examination and in the consultation the doctor should discuss the risks and advantages.
Q: I want to have CoolSculpting on my flanks. Will there be any special postoperative regimen?
A: No. Zeltiq’s CoolSculpting offers no down-time. It is fine to do whatever you feel comfortable doing and there are no special instructions after the treatment. You don’t have to treat the skin or take any medication. Certainly you should not consider CoolSculpting a replacement for diet and exercise so keep maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Q: If I have CoolSculpting, can I go to the gym the next day?
A: Absolutely. Regardless of the site treated with Zeltiq’s CoolSculpting, there are no restrictions from activity. You might be slightly or moderately sore but it won’t interfere with your results. Enjoy as normal a daily activity regimen after your CoolSculpting.
Q: Should I give up with Zeltiq if I haven’t gotten a result after a treatment?
A: It can take four months to obtain 20% reduction in fat volume. Depending on your frame, it may take several treatments to get a visible result. More and more patients are having three treatments done approximately six weeks apart, with very good results, but of course, there may be some patients who don’t get benefit that they can realize. The numbers of such patients are very low if the right candidate is picked for the treatment. CoolSculpting is not a replacement for diet and exercise.
Q: I had twins a year ago and can’t reduce my belly. I work out every day and watch my calories. Will CoolSculpting help me get a flatter belly?
A: You will need to be examined to see if you have a weakening of the muscular wall of the abdomen allowing the small and large intestinal and stomach organs to push their way forward. This is called a diastasis. If the girth you have acquired is found to be a deposit of fatty tissue above the muscle wall and underneath the skin, then either liposuction or CoolSculpting can be done.
