CoolSculpting/Zeltiqâ„¢™ - Related FAQ's
Q: I am overweight. Will Zeltiq CoolSculpting help me? I live in NYC and don't want to travel to get it done.A: Certainly Zeltiq CoolSculpting is done in our New York City practice as it is done in many others. If you are overweight you should be sure to be on a good exercise regimen and watch your diet. Zeltiq is not a replacement for diet and exercise. It may help reduce your fat in focal areas but if you don't change your net intake of calories, then you will put the fat back on.
Q: I want to have children eventually but not yet. Can I have liposuction on my abdomen now?
A: Usually, procedures to avoid prior to having your stomach stretched out with pregnancy, would be an abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck. Liposuction is commonly done on young women's abdomens who have not yet had children. Zeltiq can be done, as a few treatments in lieu of liposuction for those who prefer not to have surgery, but their results will not be expected to be as much as liposuction.
Q: Can I have Zeltiq CoolSculpting if my blood pressure is being treated with medication?
A: Provided your blood pressure is not dangerously high, during which any elective treatment should be postponed, there should be no issues in having a non-invasive procedure such as the Zeltiq for fat reduction.
Q: I have tried to diet and exercise and lose weight for more than one year. I have lost only 5 pounds and I am happy with the reduction but could lose another 5. I am still trying but is it OK to have Zeltiq CoolSculpting while still exercising? I don't want to give up the exercise while healing.
A: There is virtually no down time for most patients, although some can have tenderness that might make them feel uncomfortable initially when working out, but this is not the norm.
Q: I want to continue going to my gym three times a week. Must I wait for a long while after Zeltiq CoolSculpting before I resume my exercise?
A: No, once you feel ok, which for many is the next day, you can resume your normal exercise regimen.
