CoolSculpting/Zeltiqâ„¢™ - Related FAQ's
Q: I have fat that will be reduced by CoolSculpting during an appointment with my NYC dermatologist next week. I am wondering if it will also help my cellulite?A: Although I have seen improvement with Cellulite, it is not an indication for CoolSculpting by Zeltiq, and the expectation is that you won't get permanent improvement, but I have not seen it made worse by Zeltiq.
Q: Will the pain of CoolSculpting prevent me from having it done?
A: Zeltiq's CoolSculpting is a weird uncomfortable feeling for the first few minutes as the skin and fat are sucked into the machine but as the fat freezes and the skin gets cold, that numbs the sensation. It ends up being tolerated very well by the majority of patients. It is very rare that someone needs to abort the procedure.
Q: I will be in NYC for 5 months and am wondering if I can have a full series of CoolSculpting by Zeltiq for my lovehandles and stomach?
A: CoolSculpting is done efficiently by performing treatment on several sites per visit. It takes one hour per area and with several minutes in between each site to rearrange the equipment and give you a bathroom break if needed, two love handles and both the upper and lower abdomen can be done in four and a half hours. You can repeat the treatment in two months and again two months after the second treatment to have three treatments on each area with only three visits. So within four months you can be done! Some patients only need one or two treatments.
Q: Can I take diet pills with CoolSculpting?
A: There is no medical approval one could receive to take "diet pills" without knowing your medical condition and what pills you would be taking. The safest situation would be to have Zeltiq and allow this technique of fat reduction with a proven safety track record to do its treatment without taking potentially dangerous diet pills. If however, a physician, board-certified, is recommending the diet pills and consults with your physician who would administrate the CoolSculpting and they both agree it would be safe, then you would have a better recommendation.
Q: Can I have CoolSculpting if I am leaving for overseas in two weeks?
A: Yes, there is no reason to avoid flying this long after Zeltiq. This is a benefit of a non-surgical procedure to reduce fat volume.
