CoolSculpting/Zeltiqâ„¢™ - Related FAQ's

Q: Why don't I see a smaller me after CoolSculpting?

A: CoolSculpting may require three treatments to get a response. Often patients don't yet see a result until three months after surgery. The fat cells die but not all of them and the body has to process them. Be patient and followup with your doctor.

Q: Can ice packs at home do the same for me but at less cost than Zeltiq CoolSculpting?

A: The ice may damage the epidermis or dermis trying to deliver cold to the fat. You can get frostbite or death of the skin. Ulceration and scarring could occur. CoolSculpting by Zeltiq tends to target the fat while not injuring the skin.

Q: I just had a baby but I've been jogging again but my stomach is pouching forward. Can CoolSculpting help?

A: You would need to be examined. Rectus diastasis, or the weakening of the rectus abdominus muscle, will not improve with CoolSculpting but if you have added calories to your diet that settled in and around the fatty layer below the skin, then Zeltiq can reach this.

Q: I want to reduce my fat but I don't want liposuction. Should I have Liposonix or CoolSculpting?

A: Both treatments help to reduce fat and apparently, long term. Both have been tested and found to be safe in not generating unsafe levels of fats in the blood after treatment. CoolSculpting kills fat cells by freezing them and Liposonix damages them by heat produced by ultrasound. Both hurt but in different ways. The CoolSculpting becomes numb after the first 5 to 10 minutes, but the liposonix hurts during the entire treatment, but patients are made comfortable by taking medication. Additional areas or larger than normal areas will take more time during treatment for each device.

Q: Do all people obtain the same good results from CoolSculpting by Zeltiq?

A: No everyone is different but remember the result is not for the first four months or so. You can obtain results in four months but other might see it in the first month or so. Some people wont' get as good a result as others. In fact, the omental or visceral fat around the intestinal tract won't respond to the treatment.
