CoolSculpting/Zeltiqâ„¢™ - Related FAQ's
Q: How long will my skin feel cold after Zeltiq CoolSculpting?A: Usually it takes about a half hour for the skin to lose the firmness and coldness that is noticed after the CoolSculpting device is removed. Some times it can take an hour.
Q: If CoolSculpting can reduce my fat on my love handles, why can't my doctor do it on my neck?
A: The current applicators of the Zeltiq device do not fit the neck. Eventually there might be more applicators that allow physicians to treat many different body sites.
Q: I had back surgery recently and can't exercise yet. My love handles bother me and I want CoolSculpting, can I do this now?
A: The Zeltiq's CoolSculpting is not contraindicated because you had back surgery. The freezing of the fat will not interfere with your healing from the back surgery.
Q: I have a belly pouch and don't want liposuction or a tummy tuck. Should I have Exilis or CoolSculpting?
A: The Zeltiq CoolSculpting device actually has an FDA clearance for fat reduction. It can eliminate 20% of fat volume after only one treatment. Exilis does not have FDA clearance for fat reduction but wrinkle treatment. It has been used recently for fat reduction but it may not last as long as CoolSculpting because the freezing of Zeltiq is believed to kill the fat cells but Exilis may only make some of the fat leave the fat cell and leave the fat cell living to produce more fat. The Zeltiq can be done multiple times in the same area to obtain a better result as each treatment can provide only 20% reduction in fat volume when measured by ultrasound.
Q: If I don't go on a diet can I still benefit from CoolSculpting?
A: Zeltiq's device for fat freezing and reduction of fat cells can effect a good result but if a patient has a poor diet and doesn't exercise, the fat will come back in all likelihood. Continuing a good diet and exercise regimen helps maintain the results of the device.
