CoolSculpting/Zeltiqâ„¢™ - Related FAQ's
Q: How can I be certain that I will get the best result from CoolSculpting if a physician does not do the treatment?A: In my NYC practice, I examine my patients and apply different sized templates to the body sites and note which applicator of the few we have, fits best for that zone. If there is a possibility of several positions that the applicator could be applied, I will make marks on the patient's treatment zone and we photograph those marks so that the applicator may be positioned in the most optimal fashion during the treatment.
Q: Could I have CoolSculpting even though I had a heart transplant 10 years ago?
A: There shouldn't be any reason that you can't have the Zeltiq treatment. There are no medicines delivered that stimulate your heart during CoolSculpting. Your doctor can speak with your cardiac surgeon if you are concerned.
Q: Is there a reason that I should wear compression after CoolSculpting like Spanx?
A: No. One does not need to wear a compression garment after Zeltiq.
Q: If I missed my period, should I be concerned that the CoolSculpting I had three weeks ago affected my system?
A: There should be no detrimental effect on the ovaries from the freezing of the fat that the Zeltiq device performs.
Q: If I'm going on a trip tomorrow, can I have CoolSculpting today? I may wear a bikini at a pool when I'm away.
A: There could be bruising and slight swelling so this may bother you and as the results from the Zeltiq's CoolSculpting are not realized immediately, it would be better for you to have the treatment when you come back from your trip.
Q: I had a C-section two months ago. Can I have CoolSculpting on my abdomen now?
A: Usually there is no problem eight weeks after abdominal surgery to have CoolSculpting but you should check with your obstetrician that they have no concerns of your healing and that there are no hernias or keloid / hypertrophic scar formation beginning, before you have the Zeltiq treatment.
Q: I am very thin but hate a bulge I see in my lower tummy. Should I do liposuction or CoolSculpting?
A: Usually when there is so little fat in one area, CoolSculpting is safer than liposuction. You would have to be examined to see if there is enough fat to do the CoolSculpting.
