CoolSculpting/Zeltiqâ„¢™ - Related FAQ's
Q: If I take one of the immune system modulators for my psoriasis, can I still have CoolSculpting?A: Yes, you can still have the treatment with CoolSculpting but theoretically it might take more time to see the improvement as there will be a slower clearance of the killed fat cells.
Q: I take a high dose of ibuprofen every day. Can I still undergo CoolSculpting?
A: You might bruise much more than if you didn't take the ibuprofen. In addition, there may be less inflammation after the fat cells are frozen and killed and the inflammation is thought to be necessary to carry off the dead cells and metabolize them. It might take a while longer for you to see the improvement in volume reduction of the fat because of the reduced inflammation.
Q: Do I have to worry that if I have CoolSculpting I will have dangerous levels of fats circulating through my body?
A: No! This was adequately tested and as the fat cells are killed by freezing, and are not treated by explosive forces of ultrasound or laser energy, the fats don't just pour out of the cells into the bloodstream. Instead, the dead fat cells are metabolized by the body.
Q: When I walk, my knees rub together. I hate it. I don't want liposuction, so can CoolSculpting by Zeltiq help?
A: Not yet unfortunately. The Zeltiq company has not yet manufactured a small enough or flexible applicator that can fit the small bony inner knee area with its convexities for the medial fat pad reduction.
Q: I hate the way my skin hangs over the bra on my back near my arms. Can this be helped by CoolSculpting? A doctor I saw suggested liposuction but I don't want it.
A: Yes, CoolSculpting has been done with good results on bra / back fat. Some patients do get better results than others depending on how dense the collagen dermal fibers are in the fat pads. You may benefit by repeating the treatment two months later.
Q: Can Zeltiq help my cellulite?
A: CoolSculpting is not indicated for cellulite. It may help or not induce any change, or even worsen the cellulite appearance. The fatty tissues may show indents of cellulite that might improve when the fat around the indents flattens from the loss effect of the CoolSculpting. If this happens, then it's a bonus, but not an expected result and one should not have CoolSculpting thinking their cellulite will go away.
