CoolSculpting/Zeltiqâ„¢™ - Related FAQ's
Q: I was told I could do a second CoolSculpting between 2 and 4 months but I need to travel and won't be back until nine months after my first treatment. Will I still get benefit from Zeltiq?A: Yes. There is continued death of new fat cells with subsequent treatments even if you repeat it more than a year later! The second or third treatment freezes the residual fat and allows the body to reduce the fat content further as more fat cells die.
Q: I have heard that CoolSculpting, the treatment for fat reduction by Zeltiq, now is able to treat my inner thighs, is that correct?
A: For a few years we have been using off label, the curved applicators to our best ability, on the curved outer thighs. The inner thighs are known with liposuction to be an area that is prone to uneven results because structurally, they are not held together the same as the outer thighs. As the curved applicators didn't fit well on the inner thighs we didn't attempt it in our practice until the CoolFit applicator was available. This is a flat applicator so it can encompass the fat bulge of the inner thigh more evenly with less, (not zero) chance of irregular results from the way the skin retracts once the fat reduces. There also could be an uneven reduction of the fat itself that may take several overlapping treatments. One should not have CoolSculpting on the inner thighs if you can't afford for it to look somewhat uneven, like bad cellulite, or to even have creases or folds like drapery. If you want to have less of a bulge and look better in clothing but not care about wearing a bikini, then you might consider having CoolSculpting used for this off-label indication. Speak to your doctor about their knowledge of the results from Zeltiq on the inner thighs.
