Q: If I have Zeltiq done on my upper abdomen, lower abdomen and both love handles all at the same time, do I lose results on each area compared to doing only one at a time?A: If you have all these sites done with CoolSculpting the same day, they are done at separate times, following each other. Each site is treated for one hour with its best fitted applicator and so the results are the same as doing them independently.
Q: I want to have CoolSculpting by Zeltiq in NYC. Can I have my aesthetician do it?
A: Zeltiq trains physicians in the evaluation of patient candidacy and the treatment with CoolSculpting. They do not sell to aestheticians. The doctor might supervise the assistant who is running the CoolSculpting, but the physician does the consultation and determines the applicator and position in which the applicator is to be used.
Q: Can I have CoolSculpting by Zeltiq every month on the same area?
A: It has been done by some doctors, but I prefer to recommend every three months as an interval to allow the damaged fat cells to be rid by the body prior to the next treatment.
Q: Can I have CoolSculpting done one my outer thighs and buttocks?
A: These sites are off-label uses and the doctor can treat you if the applicator fits the regions that you desire to be treated. Zeltiq's applicators need to have a good seal in order for the suction to work.
Q: Should I worry that the Zeltiq device will create fat loss in other areas near it that I don't want to reduce?
A: NO, CoolSculpting only freezes fat in the area treated, the fat that is drawn up into the applicator, not the surrounding tissue.
Q: I saw a doctor for a consultation on liposuction a year ago but haven't done it because I'm afraid. I then read about CoolSculpting. Why would anyone ever do lipo if they can have a non-surgical treatment to rid themselves of the fat?
A: Zeltiq's CoolSculpting can reduce only about 25% of fat volume after one treatment and four months of waiting. Some patients who have significant amount of fat will need multiple treatments, every few months to get a very good result. Liposuction removes much more fat in one treatment than CoolSculpting. It however, has more risks and downtime than the Zeltiq's treatment.
