CoolSculpting/Zeltiq™™ - Related FAQ's
Q: Is CoolSculpting ok to do if I have an irregular heart beat?A: Normally yes. There is no medication prescribed during the procedure that should interfere with your CoolSculpting. If however your heart is fragile and stress is not recommended, then realize that Zeltiq’s CoolSculpting can hurt for a few minutes and if your cardiologist, or internist, or primary care doctor does not want you to have stress, then you should avoid it.
Q: I always put on some weight starting around Thanksgiving and continue through the holidays. Then by late winter I start getting back in shape but can never lose my love handles even though my stomach becomes flat. Should I wait until January when I am my most plump to have CoolSculpting or should I do it now as I’m becoming my flattest?
A: There would be no reason to wait until you’re “plumper.” If there is a bulge of fat at the waist or love handles that can be treated with CoolSculpting by Zeltiq, then I would suggest treatment now. Some people benefit by having three treatments, repeating them every 4 to 6 weeks, so in this way you can have a slimmer physique before the summer. Keep in mind that there is continued benefit for more than four months after the last Zeltiq!
Q: If I had CoolSculpting and liked the results but want more, how soon can I repeat the treatment?
A: It is safe to retreat as soon as one month provided there is no exquisite sensitivity in the area being retreated. We often retreat at four to six week intervals.
Q: Can CoolSculpting be done on the same area that had liposuction?
A: As long as enough time has lapsed after liposuction to have the deeper tissues heal and be less sensitive to the vacuum pressure and cold temperature, CoolSculpting can help reduce and finesse the results of liposuction. One might have to wait for several months in some patients whereas others might be able to undergo the CoolSculpting sooner. There are some very rare cases of patients who develop exquisite sensitivity of their tissues after CoolSculpting even without having ever had liposuction, so there might be a slightly greater chance of this occurring in those patients who have had liposuction prior to the Zeltiq treatment.
