CoolSculpting/Zeltiqâ„¢™ - Related FAQ's

Q: I have a full face and don't want to have surgery but I really want a better jaw line. Can Zeltiq CoolSculpting help me?

A: No, unfortunately, there is no applicator now that has been designed to fit this area. The freezing of Zeltiq is delivered via different applicators that must fit the areas with a good seal as there is suction that draws in the skin and fat as a unit during the one hour of treatment. The bony prominence of the jaw and the size of the current applicators makes this impossible.

Q: I have skoliosis and my doctor said that liposuction wouldn't give me a great result because of my hips looking different. Can Zeltiq CoolSculpting be done?

A: Yes, Zeltiq can be done, but if liposuction won't make you look as good as you wish and not symmetric, then you won't obtain this result from Zeltiq either. There may be a lessening of fatty volume but the contour can't be sculpted to reshape the bony framework and the skin and fat overlying the asymmetric hips won't change.

Q: I have a problem with anesthetitics and have avoided liposuction. I exercise and watch my diet but I want to reduce my waist before my wedding in one year. Can I have multiple Zeltiq treatments? I hear that CoolSculpting can be done repeatedly.

A: Yes, Zeltiq CoolSculpting can be repeated in a series of a few treatments. As there is, on average, 20% reduction of fat volume seen four months after the first treatment, secondary procedures could be repeated at three months or even earlier. Some doctors retreat sooner than others but it might be prudent to allow for more natural improvement in between Zeltiq treatments than rushing in every month. Three treatments can be accomplished for you three months apart before the wedding.

Q: I had a baby six months ago and have regained most of my shape but I want to have Zeltiq to reduce my hips some more. Is this too soon after delivery to have CoolSculpting?

A: No. Six months is appropriate to undergo Zeltiq.

Q: Does Zeltiq give only temporary results in fat reduction?

A: No, Zeltiq permanently destroys a percentage of fat cells that are present. These are then metabolized by the body. This fat reduction is long term! You could gain weight though, if you eat more and exercise less, and then won't see the improvement.
