Cosmetic Fillers in New York City - Related FAQ's

If I don’t want cheek implants, can I get similar volume with fillers?

Yes, fat injections and Radiesse can augment volume of the cheeks quite well. Similarly Perlane and Juvederm UltraPlus can fill in the cheeks also. Of course, fillers are repeated about every year. Sculptra is a volumizer and stimulates your body to make more collagen. It usually is done every six weeks for three times, then it may last for about two years.

Is it common to have oozing skin after a filler?

No! See your doctor as there can be many reasons to ooze, but usually not related to the filler. If it is a delayed reaction to a numbing cream, it can be treated readily. You should make sure it doesn’t get infected!

I want to add volume to my face in my cheeks and temples. I see how this can make me look younger but it might be costly with Restylane each treatment and I hear it only lasts a year. What alternatives do I have?

You can undergo Sculptra volumization every six weeks for three treatments and the results may last up to two years. Your body grows collagen as a response to metabolizing the PLLA chemical in the Sculptra. This is similar to the body dissolving deeper stitches that we purposely place during surgery. Another treatment would be multilayered Perlane and Restylane or Juvederm.
Granted the number of syringes would be quite a few in many patients but the longevity could be longer than a year after one treatment. Radiesse is a thicker filler and it comes in economical syringes 50 % more in volume than the Restylane, Perlane and Juvederm. Fat injections, or fat grafts can replace your volume loss with your own tissue and can provide a long term correction as those cells that live in their new environment, will live long term. It may be repeated every several months for a few treatments, but some patients have long term correction after only one treatment.
All of these treatments have a side effect possibility of bruising and significant swelling, more with Sculptra, and Fat Injections, then less with Radiesse, and the least with Restylane and Juvederm.

I had a neck lift and now am left with an indentation. Please let me know what I can do to fix this.

You should see your surgeon and ask if fat injections can help lift your indentations. Often this is successful after an area of overresection is noted in liposuction.
