Cosmetic Fillers in New York - Related FAQ's

If I have fat injections on my abdomen to fill in indents, can I have Endermologie later to smooth out cellulite?

Endermologie shouldn’t be done on fat injected areas for at least a month after the fat grafts are done. It might be better to do a series of Endermologie treatment first and then see the recontoured skin and then do the fat injections.

I had fat injections to my cheeks but notice that I feel stiff when I try to move my mouth wide. Is this normal?

Yes, it can be for some people to have enough swelling in key areas after fat injections, that they can’t smile as wide. After a few weeks this resolves itself.

I had fat injections to help my lower eyelids but one area is lumpy. Can anything be done?

You should check with your surgeon but there is a need for time to let the body reduce the swelling and bruising, if any, before any intervention should be done otherwise, it might be more risky and the final result may not be as good. Without any revision, your eyelid area may settle down beautifully.

If I get fat injections do I have to worry about having a large indentation in the area where the fat is removed? Will it look different than the other side?

Most fat injections (unless you are having buttock augmentation or similar procedure) usually involve a limited amount of fat that once removed by syringe from the thigh or belly or buttock does not leave any significant change. There may be a small line or discoloration of redness or pigment, and eventually a tiny white line less than a pencil eraser’s diameter. This mark is often not easily seen and can be placed in a covered area.

My plastic surgeon had to remove a chin implant that got infected a month ago. Can I have a filler injected now?

You might be better off to wait at least six months to make sure your body deals with the inflammation of the cavity in which the implant had been removed. There is a risk, greater than if you never had the implant infection, that the next filler, regardless of it being Restylane, Juvederm, Radiesse, or Sculptra, might get infected. Unlike the implant, the filler couldn’t easily be removed and this may prolong the symptoms of an infection if it occurs.
