Cosmetic Fillers New York - Related FAQ's

I had fat injections done to lift my cheek about four weeks ago but I have persistent tenderness in the middle of the cheek and numbness of the lower eyelid and upper lip on the same side. Will this go away?

You may have a slight inflammation of a sensory nerve which can transmit pain along the nerve’s pathway. This may go away on its own but you should see your doctor to evaluate the symptoms and determine if medical treatment is appropriate.

I am interested in having fillers done to the face but at the same time can I have liposuction?

There is no reason why fillers can’t be done at the same time. In fact, there are many patients who have liposuction and fat injections done purposely together to use the fat removed for facial filling. Fat grafts, or fat injections, are done on those people who need more volume than a patient who is having just one syringe of Restylane or Juvederm injected.

I had Sculptra injected last week and I want to have Restylane injected also. Is this possible?

Multiple fillers are often done at the same time. More dense viscous fillers are injected deeply to produce contour elevation. Fine lines can be injected with finer fillers. The infrastructure and the envelope are treated differently.

Will my Juvederm shift in my lips if I chew food the first week after the injections?

I have not had patients notice Juvederm shifting with expression or eating after injections in the lips, but I do recommend no chewing the first several hours after lip injections to avoid exacerbating bruising and swelling.

I want to change the shape of my upper lip slightly. Right now it’s thin and flat and I want it to project more and have more definition. Is this possible?

Fillers have been used for many years to accomplish this. First collagen injections were done, now we use hyaluronic acids such as Restylane and Juvederm to fill out the lip and inject the lip border. The fillers now come pre-mixed with local anesthetic to decrease the discomfort of the injections.

Is it possible to have Radiesse injected into an area that I had Perlane injected a few months ago?

If the result of the Radiesse is gone, then yes. Otherwise, you would wait for the Radiesse to continue to dissolve and then you can have the Perlane injected. It would be different if you had a thinner filler, such as Restylane or Juvederm injected now into the superficial plane, above the Radiesse. This layering procedure is commonly done.
