Fillers Injectable - Related FAQ's
Can injecting fat diminish the dark circles underneath my eyelids?
If your darkness is related to pigmentation of the skin, then fillers which are injected in the deep dermis would be below this plane and not help the color. If however, you have an indentation of the tissues, leaving it darker than the surrounding skin, the filler may lift the skin into a more even plane and there will be less darkness. Fillers then, may be injected below the muscle so that there’s less risk of visible lumps.I take Coumadin for blood thinning as I had a stroke several years ago. I have had fillers injected in my smile creases before my stroke and I now want to resume the treatment. Is this safe?
As long as you maintain, and not discontinue your coumadin prior to the treatment, the injections of Restylane and Juvederm and Radiesse are safe. You may get a bruise and there is a very slight risk of a hematoma (collection of blood that might need to be drained). I inject patients as long as their INR is less than or equal to 2.5I am a very thin woman in my 70s and I must have lost a lot of fat in my buttocks. Certainly they look flat in the mirror, but I feel when I sit that I am sitting directly on bone and it hurts. What can I do?
If the tenderness is very problematic, it may be treated by performing fat injections to the area. This may need several treatments for the new blood flow to get to the areas.I had an indentation on my cheek since I was very young. The doctor did fat injections for the first time two weeks ago. The first day it looked fine, but then the indentation returned with the skin around it more elevated and the depression more pronounced again. What caused this?
When fat is injected under a deep depression, one must ensure that there is a tendency to elevate the skin. This is done by stretching the adjacent skin and seeing if the depression elevates. If not, sometimes, subcision is done. This is a way in which the skin is released from below and the skin can elevate allowing the filler to be placed beneath it. Fat injections can then be done, but it may spread out to the periphery making it look more depressed (artificially).Related Articles
