I have had fat injections done in my lip but they were overdone and I now have bumps. Can they be surgically removed?
Unfortunately, the surgical removal of the overcorrected fat injections can lead to scarring and indentations. There is risk associated with this surgical extraction as there is with corticosteroid injections to thin out the fat. Make sure you schedule a followup examination with your doctor who had done the fat injections and discuss your concerns. This is why I prefer Restylane and Juvederm for lip filling. They create a more natural looking lip but if there is an area that needs to be thinned out, hyaluronidase can be injected but this wouldn’t work for fat injections. Can I have fat injections at the time of a face lift?
Plastic surgeons are doing just this. A facelift will tighten and lift skin but unless the fat is repositioned, or new fat cells added by fat grafts, then the other cause of the aged appearance aside from sagging skin, which is volume loss, won’t be addressed. Fat injections can add a youthful appearance by providing support of the infrastructure of the skin after the lift and you can regain those nice youthful convex contours. If I have a lump after fat injections what can be done?
Sometimes this is temporary from inflammation but other times there is an excessive “take” of the new cells in one area. That is why it is important to see an experienced physician who uses gentle, slow technique during delivery and small amounts of fat cells delivered per area per time. Corticosteroid injections may help reduce the unwanted volume if it is a small area, as there are risks with injecting the medicine.I had fat injections in different areas of my body and now I am considering Thermage. Would that be bad?
Studies have not been done to prove that Thermage wouldn’t interfere with recent fat injections. As fat injections can be very unpredictable and we don’t understand all the variables that make it work well sometimes and not enough in others, I would not suggest you undergo external radiofrequency with Thermage, Velashape or other external treatments for approximately six months after the fat injections. Are fat injections safe to inject in the soles of feet? My friend had a painful area that her foot doctor injected.
There are many reasons for painful feet including arthritis, warts, gout, neuromas. Fat injected as a cushion underneath the painful neuroma might help take pressure off of it, but if too much pressure is applied than it might cause more problems.Related Articles
