Should I stop my Retin-A cream application prior to my Fraxel laser resurfacing?

Although this has not been formally studied, if you are not using a numbing cream prior to the Fraxel Restore, then there shouldn’t be a reason that Fraxel can’t be done, but of course, not while your baby is on your chest. You would also have to avoid lightening creams and other topical products post laser that might be a problem during breast feeding. If you need these products after the Fraxel, then you should not do the laser until you have finished breast feeding. You should not undergo Fraxel Repair during breast feeding as you may have to use many products and antibiotic ointments, but these are not needed during Fraxel Restore.

Is Fraxel Restore or Fraxel Repair better for acne scarring treatment?

Per treatment, Fraxel Repair can give a better improvement than one treatment of Fraxel Restore, but the downtime is considerable with Fraxel Repair and many people can not take the week or two out of their busy schedule to stay at home for the first week and take care of their skin with ointments and compresses. The Fraxel Repair is designed to be a one time treatment which might be repeated many months later, but the Fraxel Restore is a minimal to no down-time procedure that is done as a series every few weeks. There is not a finite number of treatments that can be done and I find that the results with Fraxel Restore have been excellent for many of my patients. There is redness that can be covered with makeup and most people do not find that Fraxel Restore prevents them from socializing the evening of the treatment.

If I had a chemical peel but have seen no improvement, might I still get improvement in my wrinkles if I have laser, such as Fraxel?

It is quite common for chemical peels to help discoloration from photodamage, but tightness and wrinkle reduction is not significant unless it were a deep chemical peel, which is rarely done anymore because of the very light skin color that develops. Fraxel Restore can help minimize the brown splotches and can smoothen texture, whereas the Fraxel Dual 1927nm. can reduce the freckles further, and the Fraxel Repair carbon dioxide laser can help tighten the skin and smoothen wrinkles and reduce dark spots. The Fraxel Repair requires you to stay at home and take care of your skin for a week or two as it is more aggressive than the other lasers.
