Q: Can I have laser tattoo removal more quickly than once every four weeks to make it go away more quickly?A: The standard interval in between laser treatments when removing a tattoo is four to six weeks. Treatments spaced too closely together may interfere with the body’s immune response when getting rid of the pigment and may increase the chance of poor wound healing.
Q: What can be done about my dark circles of my lower eyelids?
A: Many people are troubled by these dark circles. In some families, this is pigmentation and it is inherited. Sometimes lasers help reduce this color. Other times, it is a redness which is theorized to be a result of several non-proven causes. Therefore, different treatments have been proposed including vitamin K cream, laser treatment for the blood flow, injecting fillers for volume and moisturizing creams. Nothing works consistently well for all patients.
Q: Can Rosacea facial redness be treated with laser even if distinct individual blood vessels are not seen? I have flushing that bothers me greatly.
A: One of the most common treatments that is done in my practice is V-beam laser treatment for facial redness. Even when an actual vessel can’t be seen with magnification, the general background hue of redness can be treated by treating the whole face diminishing the potential to flush.
Q: If I am undergoing laser tattoo removal and the tattoo is fading but I see redness where the laser is being done, what should I do?
A: The redness may be a sign of overhealing and you should have your doctor evaluate your condition to ensure you’re not developing a keloid. Silastic Gel dressings may help and your doctor may recommend a special one. You also want to be sure you’re not developing an allergy to any ointment you might be using after tattoo removal treatments.
