Q: I am not ready for a facelift and I don't tolerate pain readily. My face has begun to sag. What is my best option?A: Usually volume reduction from fat loss in the cheeks contributes to sagging. Revolumization with fat injections, Sculptra, or fillers can help. In addition a tightening non-surgical device, called Pelleve, can help lift the mid cheek, forehead and neck. It uses radio-frequency and is a deep heat massage. It is not very painful at all, in fact, if you feel pain as the treatment is done, you tell the provider and they move to another area. It is a gentle treatment. The typical treatment series consists of three treatments three weeks apart. Results can be seen six months later as new collagen forms. There is some immediate improvement that is from swelling and is not considered to be long term, but the new collagen that forms is expected to last for a long duration.
Q: I have bad sun damage on my face and want to improve it maximally but I'm a single mom and must work so I don't want downtime.
A: A series of Pelleve treatments could be good for your skin. See a doctor experienced with device and determine if you're a candidate. Non-surgical candidates for this treatment can benefit with no downtime.
Q: Can Ultherapy treat my lower eyelid wrinkles?
A: The transducer is rather bulky for this area. I prefer a series of a few Pelleve treatments for the lower eyelids and Thermage for non-invasive treatments and Portrait Plasma or Fraxel laser for the resurfacing.
Q: Is there any problem if I want to have Pelleve of the eyelids and Ultherapy of the full face?
A: No. In fact, the two treatments are good together as the Ultherapy does not treat the eyelid skin and pelleve can. Thermage also can be used on eyelids.
