Q: Should I have filler or Botox for the "11" between the eyebrows?A: Usually, Botox, Dysport or Xeomin are the preferred treatments over filler in this area. There have been cases of ulceration and scarring from fillers in this area so fillers must not be of the thick type, nor should much volume be used. These lines are present from years of underlying muscle contraction. Once the contraction is relaxed by Botox injections, and these treatments are maintained, the lines improve, even if not gone right after treatment. Persistence and patience helps as well as having an experienced physician use the correct number of units for your anatomy.
Q: I have a flight to catch tomorrow. Can I book a Botox injection for today?
A: Yes. The effect of altitude change on the Botox injection hasn't been reported to be a problem the day after the treatment. Possibly if you were to fly within a few hours of the injection there might be an effect but this is not well studied. As we recommend that our patients don't lie flat or bend over for four hours after the Botox, Dysport or Xeomin injections, we would also recommend that people don't chance lessening the effect of their treatment by flying the same day. Also, realize that although it happens rarely, there might be a chance of getting black and blue and this might upset your travel plans so book accordingly
Q: Can I sit at my desk and type after NYC Botox injections of my forehead?
A: Yes. As long as you're not bending at the waist to touch your toes or pick things up from the floor, you should be OK. If you must pick something up, try bending at your knees keeping your back straight. Bending slightly at the neck with your head is fine.
Q: I had Botox in NYC many times but the last time I had some breathing problems right after. Does this mean that I am now allergic to the Botox?
A: You might be allergic to one of the ingredients or the Botox itself. You might have had a different type of reaction, such as an anxiety reaction. In case you have a definite allergy to the Botox, you should see an allergist and not chance having the Botox again until you get clearance. Let the allergist test the liquid that the doctor uses to dilute the Botox powder prior to using it.
