Q: I had Botox done to make my lower lip look less prominent after fillers that made me unhappy. Now I don't like the way it looks when I smile. How long will this last?

A: If you didn't like the effect of the filler, and if it was Restylane or Juvederm, then hyaluronidase could be used to dissolve it. There is no solution for fat injections or Radiesse, though. The Botox will take time to have its effects disappear. Usually three months, significant activity returns, and at 16 weeks it has worn off completely for most patients

Q: If I have Radiesse injected for my volume loss in the cheeks and I then gain weight will that affect the Radiesse?.

A: The weight gain, or loss, doesn't affect the Radiesse filler, but it can create a different need of volume of the filler needed. As an example, if you have a great result with Radiesse but then lose a lot of weight, your cheek may sink in so much further, that you would need more Radiesse.

Q: Radiesse was done on my nose to make the hump less noticeable. Is it a problem if I have Botox for my "11" of the forehead?

A: No, Botox can be safely injected despite the prior Radiesse injections. The glabella is very slightly above the root of the nose. One injection in five sites of Botox treatment for the glabella is designed to weaken the procerus muscle and this location is where the Radiesse might be injected. Botox can be safely injected after the Radiesse, but it is not wise to place the Botox first and then inject Radiesse which might displace the Botox.

Q: If I have a bump from Radiesse can it be removed?

A: Unlike Restylane and Juvederm and Perlane which can be dissolved by hyaluronidase, Radiesse can not be dissolved by an injection. It might be made more flat by injecting it with saline and vigorously massaging it. You would need to see an experienced injector to evaluate your condition.

Q: Are nodules common after Radiesse?

A: No. immune reaction granulomas are rare. Overcorrection lumps can be seen within a day or immediately after the injections. These are not granulomas and might be able to be massaged flatter or the doctor might try to inject them with sterile saline.
