What is Restylane™?

This dermal filler is based on hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance. Restylane™ has been developed to reduce the signs of aging and improve facial contours and volume by replacing what is lost with age. This gel-consistency, stabilized HA filler is injected into lines, wrinkles, and hollows, where it lasts for several months.

Why choose Restylane™ treatment?

Restylane™ is based on a sugar acid that is present in the body naturally. This means there is very little risk of allergic response to this product. Treatment with Restylane™ means you have more control over the appearance of your skin. Dr. Shelton tailors treatment to the individual patient. In some, volume will be restored to the under eye area or to the jaw line. In others, Restylane™ will be injected into deep lines, decreasing their appearance.

Is treatment painful?

Restylane™ does not contain lidocaine. To improve the comfort of injections, Dr. Shelton will apply a numbing agent to the skin before treatment.

Is a skin test needed before treatment?

Restylane™ is based on high quality substances not taken from animals. Therefore, there is no need for skin testing.

What is involved in Restylane™ treatment?

Before treatment, Dr. Shelton will conduct a consultation in which you can discuss the concerns you have about your skin. Based on what you wish to accomplish, the most suitable product will be chosen and details of treatment will be provided to you.

Restylane™ treatments are administered in our comfortable office using a very fine needle. Injections into problems areas take place after the skin has been treated with a numbing solution. The entire session takes about thirty minutes.

After treatment, slight swelling, redness, itching, or tenderness may occur. If they do occur, they will last only a short time. Within a few days, the effects of Restylane™ treatment will be very noticeable and you will love your naturally rejuvenated appearance. Over the course of several months, the product will slowly break down in the body and it will be naturally eliminated. There is no buildup of product, nor is there any impact on your ability to make facial expressions.
