Q: I want to have both Sculptra and Fraxel Repair. I want the results as soon as possible, how should I proceed ahead?

A: I would not recommend doing both the same day, but if you want the results the soonest, you should do the Sculptra first as it takes a few sessions, and you can do the Fraxel Repair a few days after the Sculptra, but if you do the Fraxel Repair first, you’ll have to wait close to a month for the skin to heal before you safely do the Sculptra. So if you do the Sculptra first, then wait a week and do the Fraxel Repair, you would be on schedule to do the next Sculptra six weeks after the first.

Q: If I have a thin face, can Sculptra help?

A: Yes, provided there is enough to fill and keep you within proportion. Fat injections, Radiesse and Sculptra can all provide good improvement. There are risks so ask your physician. Bruising can certainly occur so don’t do this soon before an important social or work function.

Q: I don’t care how I will look, nor what my coworkers will ask me, if I go to work the day after I have Sculptra injections. I just can’t afford time off work. Is it possible to do this, or are the postoperative restrictions too great?

A: You will probably be able to go to work the next day, although most people do care how they look and take time off for the possible bruising which can be significant. Keep in mind that with the right makeup and training, you can hide bruises. There may be some swelling and distortion (such as eyelid bags of fluid and chipmunk cheeks, etc.). As long as your job does not require you to be physically active, apply pressure to your face, require you to bend over to pick up heavy items, and allows you an opportunity to massage your face several times per day for 5 minutes each time, then you should be able to go to work the day after Sculptra.

Q: I had Sculptra and my friend also had Sculptra, but with a different doctor. When I aksed my doctor, he told me he diluted the powder with 10 ccs of fluid. Is this too much? I don’t think my friend can find out from her doctor what they used.

A: Yes, 10 ccs or 5 ccs is acceptable, but more and more doctors are dilting with a larger number of ccs of fluid, closer to the 10 ccs, to decrease the risk in injecting too much of a dense particulate material in one area.
