Ultherapy™ - Related FAQ's

Q: I had Sculptra last week, can I now have ultherapy?

A: We would recommend six months of a waiting period prior to having the Ultherapy after fillers or Sculptra.

Q: I wonder if ultherapy can help flatten my double chin?

A: Most people refer to a folded neck when they bend over making it look like a double chin. When the double chin is in fact created by redundancy of skin, it may be tightened by Ultherapy. Unlike a neck lift, Ultherapy is not surgery and has no down time, but its results are not as significant a lift as surgery.

Q: I don't want surgery but I have puffiness in my lower eyelids. Will Ultherapy reduce the swelling?

A: Probably not. Ultherapy is not indicated for lower eyelid puffiness, whether from fluid retention or fat herniation.

Q: I have very fine wrinkles on my cheeks and have had Fraxel with improvement. Can ultherapy also help?

A: With the addition of the 1.5 mm. depth of penetration transducer, Ultherapy may help improve the collagen of the dermis. More time and study is needed to see if wrinkles can improve from this great treatment of ultrasound-induced heating of the collagen in the dermis.

Q: I have an Ultherapy treatment for my face scheduled for this Friday but was just told of a special social engagement that I want to attend Sunday. Will I be fine for the event by then?

A: The great majority of patients note that the redness they get from Ultherapy is gone almost a half hour after the procedure. There can be slight swelling in certain areas, though. In fact, if much of the forehead is treated, there can be some swelling on the lower eyelids. The lower cheeks can swell at the jowls or jaw line and underneath the neck. This will go away but might last for a few days.
