What to expect: Before, and after Voluma™ treatment in NYC
Dermal fillers are injectable products used to enhance facial contours or replace lost volume. The procedure is often inappropriately dubbed the liquid facelift. Although dermal fillers do not yield the same results as surgery, they can improve or eliminate many wrinkles and folds with instant results and no downtime. Juvéderm Voluma™ XC is one of the most recent fillers on the American market, and it is designed for those seeking a lift that lasts.Pre-treatment
First is an evaluation to ensure that you are a good candidate. Like the original Juvéderm, Voluma™ is formulated with HA (hyaluronic acid), which is a biocompatible substance, naturally occurring in the human body. However, we will need to know if you have allergies, especially to lidocaine, as it is included in the XC line of products from Juvéderm®.
No special preparation is required before Voluma™ treatment. However, we highly recommend avoiding certain medications and supplements for about 48 hours prior to injections to minimize bruising. These include ibuprofen, acetaminophen, Vitamin E, and supplemental Ginseng, Ginko biloba, Ginger, Garlic, or fish oil. We also advise avoiding strenuous activity immediately before your appointment.
The procedure
Voluma™ is a quick and comfortable process. Our skilled clinicians take great care to deliver slow, gentle injections to maximize comfort and minimize bruising. The procedure is completed in a matter of minutes, and the results are instant.
Post-treatment
There is no downtime with Voluma™ or other dermal fillers, and you will be able to resume most regular activities immediately. Possible side effects include mild bruising or swelling at the injection site. If you do bruise, it may take more than a week to fade, but you can continue to use concealer until it resolves. You can wear cosmetics to camouflage any visible effects, but you will need to take care to avoid pressure on the treatment area. Although Voluma™ is exceptionally resilient and holds its shape well, it is best to avoid rubbing or pushing on any dermal filler for a few days after treatment. This avoids the risk of dispersing or reshaping the product before it has set.
