The Nuts and Bolts of a Healthy Lifestyle
Goals keep you motivated, accountable and provide a measure of your success.
However, it can be difficult to stick to a goal no matter how much you know you will be if you really achieve it.
Let me ask you a question? Do you think you would be better off or worse off if you decided to adapt a healthy lifestyle?
Have you been successful at taking the steps to achieving the healthy lifestyle you desire?
If you have, then great! If you have not, then there is a way you can approach this and increase significantly your likelihood of doing what you really want to do.
As an example, here is a daily routine you can follow for a week that will help you with achieving your goals.
Your focus this week is on
Goals for Your Healthy Lifestyle
This Weeks Plan
Monday: A healthy lifestyle has three parts – food, exercise and mental attitude. On a piece of paper rule up three columns and write down what you want to achieve in each section.
Tuesday: Using the information above draw up a large chart that includes all three lifestyle areas and work out which of your goals is short, medium and long term and slot them into your chart.
Wednesday: For goals to be achievable there needs to be a measure of success. Work out the measures you will use; weight lost; exercise increases and things like this and fit them in on your chart.
Thursday: Successful goals have deadlines – set yourself short, medium and long term deadlines and include them on your chart as well.
Friday: Finally it will help you to achieve your goals if you have some form of support group. Talk to your partner or your friends about what you want to do and you may find they will be keen to do a similar thing for themselves. They will help you stay accountable.
Weekend: Healthy entertaining – invite some friends around and try out some healthy recipes on them.
Now, if you look at the plan above do you think it will make it easier or harder for you to achieve the goals you want to reach? I hope that your answer is easier because the steps as they are laid out give you a specific structure and prompts you to state specific measurable targets that you can wrap your mind around. This keeps you in touch with your goals so that anything you do is in alignment with or out of alignment with your goals.
This is how the coaching process works. It helps you to achieve something that you are perfectly capable of achieving, but gives you a structure to get there that guides your energies and talents along the path to get you there.
So, if you have a healthy lifestyle goal, then put this exercise to the test and try it out for a week and see what happens. You might be surprised to find yourself accomplishing things a little bit easier than you thought possible.
One other point I would like for you to keep in mind.
It is easier to stop smoking if you think about being a healthy non-smoker rather than giving up cigarettes. If you try to give up by thinking that you are giving up something you enjoy then you are 80% more likely to start smoking again within 3 months.
So, as you focus on your healthy lifestyle make sure you focus on the benefits of being healthy rather than losing out on something that you like, but you know is not good for you. This will keep your subconscious mind from being confused and holding you back from being successful.
There you have it! These are the nuts and bolts of getting started with a healthy lifestyle.
