Acne Scars- Best Ways for You to Remove Them

During preteen and adolescent years, many people suffer from embarrassing acne. As if this isn’t bad enough, many will be left with varying degrees of scarring that will last a life-time. It is important for your self esteem to consider having these scars removed so you are no longer self conscious and can regain a positive body image and improved self confidence.

Before it can be determined what the best way to remove acne scars is, we must first take a look at the type of acne scars you have. There are many types of treatments available to treat a wide range of scarring left behind from acne. Another deciding factor of your treatment will be the severity and depth of your acne scar tissue.

Acne Scars- How to remove them

The first course of action is to visit a board certified dermatologist to get your acne under control. Once the acne is under control and the breakouts have stopped, so that you are not building more scar tissue before then you can begin treatments to remove the acne scars.

Once you no longer have skin eruptions and any inflammation has cleared up, a consultation can be done with your dermatologist to discuss possible courses of treatment to help you have smoother, clearer skin. You will need to have your skin examined to evaluate the severity and depth of your scarring.

If your scarring is mild, you will need less aggressive treatments than you would if you have deep ice pick types of acne scars. You must also be patient and realistic about the outcome of your treatments. Most treatments will require repeated sessions and the scarring diminishes over time. Each treatment will bring you one step closer to your desired results of a smooth complexion.

In all instances, the appearance of your skin will improve, but in the most severe cases, thescarring may not be completely removed. No matter how severe your scarring is, you will experience a significant improvement. You should discuss your expectations with the doctor and he or she will give you their experienced advice on the number of treatments required, the type of scar removal procedure that is best for your situation and a realistic expectation of the outcome.

A variety of approaches may be taken to improve the scarring, including dermabrasion procedures, chemical peels, and laser treatments to resurface or tighten the skin or to increase the subcutaneous collagen to make the indentations of the skin less noticeable. There are several different types of laser treatments available and each has its own application when it comes to the types of acne scars they can be used on.

In severe cases where ice pick scars are evident you may need to have the scars surgically removed and corrected by punch grafting. This will completely remove the scar tissue and allow the skin to heal with the deep depressions completely gone.

It is important that you select a dermatologist who is familiar with acne scar treatments and addresses your questions and concerns as well as makes sure that your expectations from the procedure are realistic.
