Helpful Eye Cream for Dark Circles

Eye cream for dark circles is a type of skin cream designed specifically for the dark brown, black, bluish, purple shadows that occur under the eyes. Dark circles are one of the most common skin problems, are often caused due to the blood capillaries around the eyes. The capillaries can be seen through the skin which makes the skin turn a bluish color. Dark circles can become much more noticeable as you age, due to the loss of skin collagen. Skin also becomes translucent and thinner as you age. Stress, strain and exhaustion can also exasperate the dark circles.
Another cause of dark circles is allergies, as watering and itchy eyes cause the person to rub the eye area. This rubbing will break the capillaries which causes even more discoloration and puffiness. A type of skin disorder called eczema, can also occur with the allergies and the rubbing and scratching can also cause thickening of the skin along with the darkness. When this happens, medication has to be used to clear the rash first and work on the discoloration second.
Dark circles may also be due to a deficiency in antioxidants or vitamin K, though there is no definite scientific proof to support these claims.
This trait can also be hereditary as individuals with deep set eyes or fair skin will have more noticeable dark circles.
The skin around the eyes is much more delicate than the rest of the skin on your face so it is important to use creams specifically designed for this area. Therefore face moisturizer and cream is not appropriate for the skin around the eyes.
Active ingredients in eye creams made for dark circles include antioxidants and vitamin K. eye creams that contain retinol can also reduce under eye color as well as reduce puffiness. Retinol is a form of vitamin A and is very important for skin health. Retinol can be absorbed through the skin, helps increase collagen, and increase the turnover of skin cells.
Other active ingredients to look for in eye cream include Palmitoyl tetrapeptide-3 and Palmitoyl oligopeptide. These two compounds are amino peptides that increase collagen and elastin production in the skin. The two peptides are the building blocks used to create collagen and elastin and if you have more collagen and elastin then it is possible to produce thicker skin, which decreases the appearance of dark circles.
Be aware that you may not be able to completely cure dark circles only by using eye creams, though the eye cream will help. In some cases chemical peel or laser treatment might be needed to get better results.
Also, to completely remove and prevent dark circles make sure you get plenty of sleep, eat healthy and drink plenty of water in addition to making sure any allergies are treated.
