During this unsettling time, we wanted to reach out to our patients and reassure you of our commitment to maintaining a safe, clean environment at Noble Cosmetic Surgery, because providing a safe and healthy environment for our patients and staff has been our top priority. Additionally, please take note of the following:
  • As a cosmetic medicine facility, we typically do not service sick patients. Our patients are electing to have procedures that are not medically necessary, so your risk of running into an ill patient is lower than that of other healthcare facilities.
  • Our surgeries and other treatments are performed in our private facilities that are used purely for elective treatments.
We continue to monitor the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, and are actively following the guidelines and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO) as well as our local, state and federal government agencies. Our usual guidelines include universal precautions, frequent handwashing, and frequent sanitizing of all patient areas. For the most up-to-date information, please check the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website about this evolving situation, how to reduce the risk of spreading illness, travel health notices, and more.

The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus. Currently, as the coronavirus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person, we have now adopted several enhanced safety measures to decrease the risk of exposure to you and the community which include the following:
  • Please wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use the hand sanitizers provided when you enter our offices.
  • If you are feeling unwell or anyone in your household may have been exposed to COVID-19 through travel or attendance at large gatherings less than two weeks ago, please call us at your earliest convenience so we can reschedule you!
  • If you need to cough or sneeze, do so into the crease of your elbow, and then immediately wash your hands.
  • Know the symptoms of Coronavirus: tiredness, fever, weakness, shortness of breath and diarrhea. This virus is lower respiratory focused, so you may not have upper respiratory symptoms like a runny nose, sore throat, and congestion.
  • Take these additional preventive actions to stop the spread of germs-(wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth, clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces).
We hope that each of you will stay safe & healthy as we navigate this complex situation together.

Sincerely,
Dr. Obasi & his staff at Noble Cosmetic Surgery

Chin Implants Q & A

A chin implant, or chin augmentation, procedure helps to reshape the size or enhance the look of the chin. Some patients want their chin to be longer, wider, or bigger to better complement the rest of the face. Most people can qualify to have a chin implant procedure, but the best candidates have a receding chin and a normal bite.

At a preliminary consultation, you and Dr. Obasi select a firm silicone implant in a shape and size that helps you achieve your desired results.

Chin augmentation is an outpatient procedure with intravenous sedation. Dr. Obasi makes a small incision, possibly under the chin or inside the mouth where the lower lip meets the gum. He gently stretches the tissue to create space for an implant.

The procedure may also involve reshaping bone or fat to achieve the right contours. To do this, he might use a bone saw or chisel tool to cut the jaw bone and reposition it, holding it in place with screws or wires.

After he inserts the implant, Dr. Obasi closes the incision with fine sutures. The procedure usually takes 1-3 hours.

After the operation, Dr. Obasi makes sure you’re prepared to go home with detailed aftercare instructions.

You’ll have a surgical dressing that needs to remain in place for a few days. You’ll also be advised to follow a liquid diet, gradually transitioning back to soft foods to limit excessive chewing during the first few days of recovery.

In most cases, you’ll need to avoid or limit some physical activities until you’ve fully healed. Dr. Obasi might also recommend you wear a brace while sleeping for several weeks.

You might feel a tight, stretched sensation, but it typically subsides within a week. Swelling usually resolves completely in six weeks. Dr. Obasi can prescribe you prescription medication to manage tenderness and pain.

Results are fully noticeable after about six weeks, possibly longer, depending on when your swelling subsides. Chin implants usually last a lifetime, and scarring is most often very minimal or not noticeable at all.
