During this unsettling time, we wanted to reach out to our patients and reassure you of our commitment to maintaining a safe, clean environment at Noble Cosmetic Surgery, because providing a safe and healthy environment for our patients and staff has been our top priority. Additionally, please take note of the following:
  • As a cosmetic medicine facility, we typically do not service sick patients. Our patients are electing to have procedures that are not medically necessary, so your risk of running into an ill patient is lower than that of other healthcare facilities.
  • Our surgeries and other treatments are performed in our private facilities that are used purely for elective treatments.
We continue to monitor the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, and are actively following the guidelines and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO) as well as our local, state and federal government agencies. Our usual guidelines include universal precautions, frequent handwashing, and frequent sanitizing of all patient areas. For the most up-to-date information, please check the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website about this evolving situation, how to reduce the risk of spreading illness, travel health notices, and more.

The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus. Currently, as the coronavirus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person, we have now adopted several enhanced safety measures to decrease the risk of exposure to you and the community which include the following:
  • Please wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use the hand sanitizers provided when you enter our offices.
  • If you are feeling unwell or anyone in your household may have been exposed to COVID-19 through travel or attendance at large gatherings less than two weeks ago, please call us at your earliest convenience so we can reschedule you!
  • If you need to cough or sneeze, do so into the crease of your elbow, and then immediately wash your hands.
  • Know the symptoms of Coronavirus: tiredness, fever, weakness, shortness of breath and diarrhea. This virus is lower respiratory focused, so you may not have upper respiratory symptoms like a runny nose, sore throat, and congestion.
  • Take these additional preventive actions to stop the spread of germs-(wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth, clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces).
We hope that each of you will stay safe & healthy as we navigate this complex situation together.

Sincerely,
Dr. Obasi & his staff at Noble Cosmetic Surgery

Scar Revisions Q & A

While not all scars can be completely removed, Dr. Obasi strives to make your scars as invisible as possible. Depending on the severity and location, he uses one or more surgical and nonsurgical techniques to address the size, shape, color, depth, and location of the scar. His goal is to reduce the scar’s noticeability while avoiding further damage to the surrounding skin or the scar itself.

Several different procedures are used to treat scars. You’ll start with a comprehensive skincare consultation to determine your needs and discuss your goals, as well as how realistic they are given your particular situation.

Dr. Obasi always begins with the least invasive option to treat your scars, progressing to surgical methods when necessary. He may use one or several of the following techniques:

  • Topical medications: Medicated ointments and bleaching creams reduce pigmentation
  • Chemical peels: Exfoliation of surface skin layers provides a refreshed appearance
  • CO2 laser resurfacing: Refines superficial scars and pigmentation irregularities
  • Injectable medications: Special formulas reduce collagen production locally
  • Injectable dermal fillers: These products temporarily fill indentations (e.g. acne scars)
  • Surgical incision: Leaves only a discrete line that eventually disappears
  • Skin grafting: Skin from another area of the body replaces dermal tissues

Following your procedure, you may notice swelling, discomfort, or discoloration for up to two weeks. The scar or scars will continue to heal and fade in the weeks that follow. The purpose of scar revision surgery is to reduce the appearance of scars, but you might need multiple treatments or a combination of approaches over time to achieve results.

It’s important to have realistic expectations if you’re considering scar revision treatment. After a scar revision procedure, it’s also extremely important to follow Dr. Obasi’s aftercare instructions. Good skincare habits keep your scars from becoming worse and prevent new scars from forming.
