What is CEREC?

CEREC stands for:

CEREC technology can be used to create several types of restorations, but is commonly known for the fabrication of dental crowns. Crowns are “caps” made of porcelain to cover a tooth that is weak or broken. With CAD/CAM technology, the CEREC machine can take digitized impressions of the smile and then use these digitized guides to fabricate a restoration in about 20 minutes. The entire process using the CEREC device eliminates the need for patients to wait for restorations from a traditional dental laboratory (a process that can take weeks) and allows fast, beautiful repairs done in just one appointment. Patients love the ability to rest in the dental chair while their new restoration is being made a room away.
