Fraxel™ - Related FAQ's
Q: I had laser resurfacing and now my eyelids are more wrinkled and itchy, why?A: During the healing process the skin may be more sensitive to topical products especially Bacitracin, Polysporin and Neosporin over-the-counter antibiotic ointments. Sunscreens, cleansers, and moisturizers all may be too irritating right now for your skin. You should see your doctor to determine what is best for you to do now.
Q: I am African American and I have a lot of dark spots from acne. Can I have laser to lighten them?
A: It is very important to be seen in consultation and have the doctor carefully examine your skin with different lights and determine the depth of pigmentation. Sometimes chemical peels and lightening creams, such as Elure, are all that is necessary, but other times, Elure, Lumixyl, hydroquinone, Retina A, Revale, and laser such as Fraxel Dual laser, can be used to lighten deeper post inflammatory hyperpigmenation.
Q: I have bad acne scars and want to recover quickly from treatment. What's my best option?
A: Fraxel Restore laser can provide very good improvement with minimal downtime compared with the older generation carbon dioxide laser, with several treatments. There will be some swelling, redness and even a little flaking, but makeup can be applied. This can take more than six treatments and often after six we wait for six months and resume further sessions if needed.
Q: Can I have Fraxel laser treatment on my face but I have bad eczema on my lower body. Is this OK?
A: Yes, provided that there is no touching of the eczema on the lower body and immediately proceeding to touch the just-treated face after fraxel as this could risk spreading an infection of bacteria that could be present in the eczema patches.
Q: I have good skin but my lower eyelids are wrinkled Can Botox help?
A: Botox of the lower eyelids can cause unwanted side effects at times. Chemical peels, Fraxel laser or Portrait plasma can help.
Q: Why did my doctor say that Fraxel laser won't help my bags under my eyes?
A: Often, fluid retention or fat herniation causes a swelling underneath the eyelids and Fraxel laser resurfacing doesn't help this.
