Fraxel™ - Related FAQ's
Q: I need to finish one more of three Sculptra treatments to fill my face, my physician says. I also want to have Fraxel™ to help my dark spots and fine lines on the face. Can I have this done before I have my last Sculptra?A: Absolutely! This is done commonly. In between the Sculptra sessions, Fraxel™ can be done. I would do the Fraxel™ Restore. If you need the ablative fractional Fraxel™ Repair, then I would make sure you have three to four weeks of healing before doing the next Sculptra and not do the Fraxel™ Repair too soon after the last Sculptra to allow healing from each.
Q: I had Fraxel™ Repair a week ago and it's just healed but I see new lines. Should I be concerned?
A: Swelling and inflammation make temporary changes in the skin during healing after resurfacing. Make sure that you and your physician agree on a topical regimen for you to be using. Be patient, as these changes continue to evolve over many weeks. Use sunscreen so you don't damage your new skin!
Q: What are my options at 30 to improve my sundamaged face with many brown spots?
A: A series of Fraxel™ Restore laser treatments may be the best, but this is used in conjunction with good topical treatment regimens including Revale and Skin Medica Essential Serum antioxidants. Light chemical peels may be better for other patients. Fraxel™ Dual can give wonderful results for some patients with only one or two treatments. More severe damage would benefit by Fraxel™ Repair laser resurfacing but this carries larger downtime and risk. I have had great success with Portrait, now called Energist, Plasma resurfacing.
Q: A friend of mine had Fraxel™ Type I laser treatment. I wanted to have her result and checked it on line but can't find it. What is it?
A: I'm not sure what Fraxel™ Type I is either. It must be coined by the practice using a laser, and it might not even be Fraxel™ but a competitor brand of fractional laser resurfacing. Some practices try to brand their procedures but this only serves to make it more difficult for doctors to share information and teach the public as to the benefits and risks of different treatments. Fraxel™, from Solta (initially called Reliant), has the Refine, Restore, Dual and Repair treatments.
